Expansion Branding
On June 1st 2011 I was asked to create a logo and flyer for an exclusive event called Expansion held at the exclusive Hummingbird Nest Ranch, Santa Susana CA 93065. This event was inspired by the image of a satellite searching the heavens for undiscovered information and talent that is the network of artists making up the Electronic Music Industry right now. This brought one thought, science fiction, the sci-fi logo was created to brand the flyer and poster like a soft cover novel or comic book. As each new act is added to the line-up I try to contrast the feel and atmosphere the music and art will create. Most flyers spend a considerable amount of time trying to broadcast the typography as the focal point but in these I created a dynamic between the content and graphic to establish a relationship. This adds value to the branding allowing the fallowing to develop in a rapid pace.
