Illustration

When illustrating, I create detailed sketches of the work on paper first. This allows me to form a general design strategy involving what the client and I think the illustration should look like.

Underlying Sketch

In this illustration I kept some edges tapered and uneven to invoke a raw feeling to the design. In affect, I allow my first stage sketches to shine through the perfected illustration to give the design originality and movement.

While turning this illustration into a t-shirt graphic, I manipulated the tentacles to flow freely while the character holds the tools that create music and art. It is a large print graphic that could be manipulated to smaller or more detailed sizes.
